Gardens at Tatton Park

Lecture by John Grimshaw entitled 'A Plantsman’s Garden in North Yorkshire' on Sunday 23rd March 2025 at 2.30pm at the Tenants' Hall, Tatton Park

Dr Grimshaw is the Editor-in-Chief of Curtis’s Botanical Magazine, as appointed by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in 2024. Previously, Dr Grimshaw was the Director of the Yorkshire Arboretum from 2012.

Dr Grimshaw has a degree in Botany and a doctorate in African forest ecology from Oxford University. He has written many books including The Gardener’s Atlas in 1998 recounting the journeys plants have made from their source to our gardens.  Dr Grimshaw has worked in the Netherlands for a seed company, where he gained experience in commercial horticulture and management. He was the Garden Manager of Colesbourne Park in Gloucestershire from 2003-2012.

In 2024 Dr Grimshaw was awarded an MBE for services to tree health and plant conservation. In 2021 he created the first dedicated Tree Health Centre and in 2023 he set up a Red Squirrel Enclosure.

This talk is one of Dr Grimshaw’s most popular.

The talk is free to members, just show your membership card at the Tatton Park entrances for free parking in the main car park.

The talk is £5 for non-members. (Parkland vehicle entry fee applies, pay on the day)
